Oh say, can you see?

Today, I went to the opticians. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Firstly, they kept calling me "Mr" and not "Dr" even though it clearly says "Dr" on my paperwork, which caused me to do a "Can you please get my name right?!?!" type spat. There are only four places I insist on being correctly addressed: the GP's surgery, the dentists, the opticians and the bank. Everywhere else is allowed to use my first name. I have no idea why I'm arsey with the above four but I am.

Secondly, they kept me waiting 40 minutes beyond the time of my appointment before I got seen, at which point I had to do a "Why couldn't you tell us you were running late then I could have gone shopping instead of sitting here like a lemon?!" type spat.

Thirdly, due to their own lateness, my 2nd appointment was missed. I have to have 2 appointments - one for my eye test and one for my contact lenses. The first one running late made me miss the second one. Did they offer to correct this? Did they shite. The earliest appointment was 2 hours later! This caused a "You either find a slot to see me in the next 30 minutes or I'm moving to a different opticians" type spat. This worked perfectly and I got seen very quickly.

After all that, my prescription hasn't changed!!! I need a drink...

OMG I hate the damn eye doctor. Some people loathe the dentist, but the eye doctor is the one that I hate. Mainly for the exact reasons you state (except the being called Dr) and because I can't control any aspect of my performance. At least with the dentist I can brush and floss, but with the eye doctor, I can only show up, wait, get annoyed and then find out the results. If there is no change, I feel like I wasted my time, if there is a change, I feel like a blind loser.
